Are you ready to help?

Cardiac arrest is a leading causes of death in the U.S. Nationally only 10% survive. In The Villages the survival rate last year was 36%! Cardiac compression and the use of an AED increase chances of survival.  

What will I learn?

In your 2½ hour class, you’ll learn how to:

• Recognize and respond to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) victim and a choking victim.
• Understand the legal issues of the Good Samaritan Law and a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order
• Learn and practice CPR/CCC (Continuous Chest Compressions) for adults
• Learn and practice skills to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Learn CPR/CCC for children and infants
• Learn and practice  Choking Maneuvers (Back Blows and Abdominal Thrusts)

How will I learn?
We use a lively combination of lecture, discussion, video, and most importantly, hands-on practice for each technique.  Your instructors (one for every four students) are all certified by the American Safety and Health Institute.

Registration

• Our Public Classes are held on the 2nd Friday of every month from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. Preregistration is required!
• There’s no charge, but we gratefully accept donations to the CERT Foundation to support the equipment, education, and supplies for our classes.
• Note that certification is not provided in this free class, but you will have all the training to participate in helping neighborhood Neighbors Saving Neighbors Programs.
