Community Emergency Response Team of The Villages
The Community Emergency Response Team of The Villages (CERT) organization trains citizens to provide initial assistance to their families, neighbors, and community during medical emergencies and disasters until professional emergency personnel arrive.
CERT Is Volunteers
All of CERT members are volunteers. Therefore we have no paid positions within the organization.
CERT Is Neighbors
All members of CERT of The Villages are residents of The Villages. This means all the CERT members are our neighbors.
CERT Is Trained
Everyone in CERT receives the same initial training, regardless of background, in a variety of subjects. Additionally all members are required to attend continuing training yearly. Subjects include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR), Automated External Defibrillator(AED), light search and rescue, bleeding control, triage, and others.
CERT IS Community Involved
CERT is actively involved in the community. As examples of such community involvement, CERT members provide First Aid support at a variety of Villages activities and provide training to the public in areas such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training (CPR)
What does CERT do?
Train
CERT members are provided classroom and practical training from many of the professionals in our rank. Initial training is 36 hours in a variety of subjects with yearly continuing training and practical experience.
Teach
CERT teaches a variety of courses to the public. The courses are presented free of charge.
Respond
When a disaster occurs in a community the normal professional first responders can become quickly overloaded. CERT members can be quickly deployed into neighborhoods to assist in a variety of manners.
Assist In The Community
CERT assists in the community in many ways. CERT provides First Aid support at a variety of Villages activities.
